I hadn't really planned on taking tomorrow (Friday) or Monday off work -- I figured I'd take a few hours here, a few hours there and take one day total.
Then my coworker, TV, told me that was silly, I wouldn't want to come to work for only a few hours on Monday and that Friday, I'd be ready to leave a little after today.
She's right.
And now I have a plan for tomorrow with Angela, and a plan for Monday with Jay, and life is quite good. I'm thinking tomorrow is a tour of a local state park, Saturday at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sunday is some golf & cigar bar touring, and Monday is a tour of a local cigar factory. Two different friends, two different agendas, one hell of an awesome weekend.

The 6:14 a.m. text
Yes, believe it or not, I received at text at 6:14 a.m. this morning and that person lived to see the day. Of course, it helps he is in Indy, as if he were here ... well, let's say it could get ugly.
It's not even that I mind morning. In fact, I love mornings -- it is just that my bed this morning was super-duper cozy comfy warm and cool at the same time happiness.
Oh, the text? It was a friend of mine, let's call him Marine, who had just gotten off work from closing a bar in Indy and he wanted to let me know that he wants to come visit, more than once, this winter. Why on God's happy little green earth he chose 6:14 a.m. to tell me this I do not know. Anyhoo, he and I have been friends since 7th grade and had lived in the same city for YEARS without knowing it, and rediscovered each other a year or so ago via Facebook. Many hi-larious times ensued and the last one culminated in us closing down the bar (see above) and him sleeping it off in my guest room. He wanted to make sure to tell me this morning that he hasn't had a good night of sleep since that time and that my guest bed was super comfy.
I told him to come on down, and he can check it out again. I know we'll be catching up while I'm in Indy in December, as his bday is 12/24 and he wants to celebrate.
************
This weekend looks interesting ...
I need to start thinking about DC, as I leave in two weeks and haven't so much as thought about what I will wear yet. I have a suit I need to pick up at the cleaners -- then probably need to look at Macy's/Dillards for other options. I have enough suits for the week but still want to make sure I have good evening clothes too. I'll be seeing a couple of former coworkers there, plus will have some new coworkers in tow. Should be big fun.
Saturday evening is the fundraiser of the year for my college. The Pops concert this year features the Commodores and Saturday night I'll be on my lawn chair, drinking adult beverages under the stars and listening to music. I'm excited and totally ready for that.
Sunday is still up in the air. I'm trying to do a little touristy stuff here and there and I have a few ideas bubbling around my head. Cayo Costa State Park? Capitva? Sanibel? Edison-Ford Winter Estates? Sitonmybuttandwatchfootball? :)

Weekend nonsense.
1. supposed to go to dinner tonight with Sister, Boy Wonder and some family friends at Oceanaire tonight. I feel like crap. This sucks.
2. supposed to drive to LP tomorrow to pick up my cousin Krin and head to Schaumberg for some power shopping at Woodfield and IKEA but feel like crap. Again, sucks.
Perhaps I should just stay home and let this garbage run its course. *sigh*

The Week From Hell.
For those that don't know, this week was the first week back to classes. Sounds innocuous, doesn't it? Like spring flowers blooming and all that happy horseshit.
In actuality, the return of students is a little more like this:
"Where am I?" (IT)
"Where am I going?" (Let me look at your schedule)
"Where's the bookstore line?" (You are in it)
"Is the line always this long?" (Yes, when you wait for the first day of class to get your books)
"Is there a Taco Bell around here?" (Yes, thankfully)
"Do you know where Instructor X is?" (No, and the tracking microchip is currently not working)
"Is enrollment up?" (Yes, No, Maybe, Who Knows [dependent on day])
"Can I park in a numbered spot marked 'reserved'?" (Only if you want towed)
"What class is this?" (Obviously one you don't think you belong in)
I have used up my allotment of 'fuck' this week so I've had to resort to 'frack.' All out of 'fuck' by Tuesday, that must be a new record.
Thankfully, thankfully, I am off work tomorrow (Libations in Sharkboy's Gazebo, here I come!) and off Tuesday. Nice, long, pleasant weekend.
Or at least long ;)
Have a great weekend!!

No more 'J' names.
With apologies to my friend Jay at Plays With Sirens ...
Seems that all I am doing lately is going out on a series of dates with guys with 'J' names. The young'un has a 'J' name, the golf guy has a 'J' name and the latest, my date from this past weekend, has a 'J' name. I am beginning to think I am meant to date people with 'J' names.
I am, however, leaving the number of 'J' names at three, as how it stands now, I could get in real trouble if I call one 'J' the other 'J's' name. :)
This week has gone by fast but I think that is mostly because the past two weeks have been insane in my life. What with traveling to FL, returning to Indy, heading to La Porte for a funeral and Mother's Day weekend, I am glad to be back in Indy. I don't know that I will leave its' friendly confines for awhile now.
This weekend should prove to be interesting. Supposedly I am going on a date with the golf guy 'J' on Friday night. Yes, he has crawled out of his cellar and asked me out for Friday. I will, of course, make other plans, given his propensity to be a horse's ass. I suppose you are wondering why I'd say yes to the date if I know all this. Pure curiousity people, that's all. So secondary plans will involve me, out to dinner followed by a trip to the bookstore. *sigh* Happy life. Saturday and/or Sunday I plan to head out to the track to watch the cars go 'round and 'round. I love the people watching that the track affords at this time of year and for $10 + the cost of food, I am in for all day. I'll probably pack a cooler with food and beer, as per normal. I am thinking I will be doing this with the 'J' from last weekend. Then Saturday night is FitnessNerd's birthday celebration complete with butch chicks and femme boys. Yes, we are going to see a Roller Derby (!!!!) and they (note: not Me) will follow that up with a trip to a drag bar in town, Illusions IV. This is a place where drag queens go to die. Unsuccessfully. I have been there once and no longer feel the need to do that nonsense again. Yes, yes, I know the drinks are cheap but when I feel my life fading before me, it does not matter how cheap the drinks are.
Sunday may well be a return trip to the track (hey, what the hell, right?) and the ever present laundry. That is if I don't do laundry on Friday night when the golf guy flakes out for the ten millionth time.
Life is good, no complaints. The stuff I mentioned in last post is still going on, nothing I can do about it so I watch and wait.
Have a fabu weekend!!

Some people were born to piss me off.
Honestly, I love my job. I know, it is a bit twisted, but overall my job is very cool. This week, however, I am at the end of my tether.
I have four things due this week, all of which are 'immediate' and 'urgent.' Well, kids, I hate to say this out loud but ... not EVERYTHING can be immediate AND urgent all at once. Unfortunately, all four of these items are.
So when I finished something yesterday, I emailed it off to my counterpart here and received a terse reply asking what exactly I had been doing all week, he expected my email on Monday. Seeing as I don't report to him and seeing as sending a big FUCK YOU with a photo of me smiling and giving him the two finger salute would get me fired, I did nothing. I did, however, spew hateful thoughts for him out loud to CCM and A1, both of which were amused.
There you have it, I feel better. Like I said, some people were born to piss me off.
*****
Today CCM, A1, Sister and I ate lunch outside at Old Point. Today is Dining Out for Life, a benefit for the Damien Center for AIDS prevention and Old Point was donating part of their proceeds today to them. It was a lunch out, but a lunch out for the cause too.
Tonight I head down to IU with PM to see Sam Donaldson speak. Looking forward to it.
Tomorrow is the official opening of the Rathskeller biergarten with my very favorite band playing: PolkaBoy!!! Needless to say, I will be quaffing some beverages tomorrow night in celebration of zee most beeuuutiful muzik in zee vurld!
Saturday is hair appointment day with Evolution and I will get to see my college roommate from sophomore year at Cottey ... she and her family are flying into town from Oregon. I've not seen her in 13 years. I am SO looking forward to it.
Sunday is April in Paris for the college. I'll be working the door there from 2:30-6, then back home.
Monday is finish up crap at work day.
Tuesday I head to Florida until May 4. I am SO excited!!!

Weekend preview ...
This weekend MM, MD and Madison are headed here from Michigan City, IN -- their home. The last time that MM and MD were at my house, it was quite a weekend ... so much so that now they are having another little one in six months:)
I wanted to kid MM about 'at least she won't get pregnant' this time while staying at my house but she is three months along and doesn't have much sense of humor on the subject. I still find it hilarious.
The jist of the story is that in early October, MM and MD came down for the weekend to celebrate MD's 34th birthday. I had agreed that they could use my house while I was gone (as I had planned on being out of town) so they could 'get away' without it costing a mint. As it turns out, my weekend plans fell through and I ended up in town. I gave them my bedroom anyway, as that was the original plan, since at that time my Sister was still living with me and she didn't want to think of MD and MM having sex in 'her bed' also known as my guest room bed. Can't blame her really, although I've found that hot water and Tide go a long way towards easing my germophobe nature on this subject.
So after they had left, I was changing the bed when I felt something hit my toe underneath the bed. I thought it was a cat toy, so I picked it up with my toes. No, it was not a cat toy. It was a Nuvaring. Yes, boys and girls, I picked up a birth control ring belonging in someone else's vagina with my toes. After shouting "oh oh oh My GOD!!!" about 10,000 times, I called them. MM answered the phone and I asked her if she had left any jewelry at my house. She paused a moment, said no. I said, well, this looks like a small child's jelly bracelet .... and she started hyperventalating. Thus, kid #2 was apparently conceived in my house. Delightful, eh?
So this time they are bringing Madison and MM is already pregnant, so looks like there won't be a second conception this time around.
As for the weekend, we may end up at my gym to play in the pool Saturday afternoon. It is 'bring your friends' weekend, so I can bring whomever I want for free this weekend. I'm pretty sure Madison will get into being in the pool as it is nice and warm in the pool area (85 degrees or so) and there is a mushroom-type fountain thing near the zero depth area. We shall see.
Not sure what else we are doing. On Sunday afternoon, after they leave, I will probably go to the gym again to sit in the hot tub and waste away into nothingness.
