Sam Donaldson

I think I have a new love: Sam Donaldson.

Last night PM and I traversed to beautiful Bloomington, IN for the O'Bannon Institute. The featured speaker at the opening banquet was Sam Donaldson. First let me say he looks no different in person than he does on TV. I've seen plenty of people in person over the years that TV does wonders for them (soft filters on camera lenses, etc.) and others that look pretty much the same outside of TV (few and far between). Sam is one of them.

He had some of the most fascinating stories and was eager to share them with us. When he spoke of Lillian Carter schooling a reporter on the fine art of the white lie, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. He was an engaging and fascinating speaker and for that I was thankful.

I also had a moment with Judy O'Bannon and had my picture taken with her. Considering the years of blood, sweat and tears I had over Santaland ... I deserved it. 'Nuff said.

Did some general sucking up and small talk. Also saw an old friend from my days at Commerce ... JZ was there! JZ is now working for Rep. Baron Hill and seems to be loving his job. He is the same JZ as always.

I am exhausted today. Only two more things to get out the door and I can maybe, just maybe, relax for a hot second.

Thank you jeebus I leave for Florida on Tuesday.
